Model In 8 Steps

Want to model for our Skype video project? If so, let’s start by learning the basic lessons from the image above. It has almost all the basic technical requirements of the Skype video project for our online video demonstration models. I downloaded his image from pexels.com by Mart Production to illustrate the tools and environment required.

1) Environment

The guy in the image above has the perfect environment to become one of our best Skype models for our online video project. I would love to work with him as a demonstration model, if he could do the job properly. Why? He has the perfect working environment that we require from all models.

2) Background

The second important element that he has from the image above is a clean and plain background or backdrop. It is not chaotic. It is not dramatic. It is plain. It is clean. It is simple. It is neat. Most models encounter challenges with their background. Which brings us to the next requirement.

3) Laptop

The third important requirement from the image above is his device. Having a good working laptop computer (or a mobile phone with a tripod to hold and keep it steady) as a Skype model is required. The only problem is the position of his laptop camera. It is below his eye level. Must always be positioned at eye level.

4) Table

Another problem that I have encountered is models not having a desk or a table to place their device. The number four important requirement from the image above is having a table to place his device. Table or desk is required for positioning devices like phone or laptop.

5) Chair

Not a stool with three or four legs. But an office chair that supports your back like the one that he is sitting on is one of the most important requirements of the Skype video project. If you would like to seriously model for our Skype video project, get a comfortable office chair like his to sit down.

6) Lighting

Having access to enough natural or artificial lighting is one of the major problems that I still encounter when hiring and working with beginning virtual models on the Skype video project. Obviously, he has enough lighting on him. Even though it is an artificial light. It is way better than sitting in the dark. Sufficient lighting is required for Skype models.

7) Headset

The next requirement for the beginning Skype model is having a headset. Note that I am not talking about those distracting white earphones with many wires. But a headset with a built-in microphone. Notice how his microphone is attached to his headset. It is required. If you would like to model for us, get yourself a good black headset with a microphone attached to it. No earphones, please. And I would love to interview and audition you on Skype.

8) Camera

Look at the position of his laptop. Think about the angle of his camera. How do you think his camera lens will capture him? Yes, I know he is not conducting a Skype video call in the image. It is just an example of where to position your camera lens.  His camera lens must be positioned at eye level. This is another challenge that we have encountered over the years.
